Phortos Consultants was founded in 2012 by its two senior partners, Arie Baak MscBA, LLM, BTh and Albert Mons Msc. They have been involved in Big Data Consulting from the company’s inception, building upon many years of prior experience in the same field. In our perspective data stewardship is key to many aspects of the goals of institutions and corporations.

Our customers include private, academic and public organisations and institutions. Phortos Consultants has project managed several government funded projects including OpenPHACTS, ODEX4ALL and FAIRdICT and subsequently has been instrumental in developing the GO FAIR initiative, a kick-start implementation process for the European Open Science Cloud. Some of our work includes:

• Supporting the establishment of the Dutch Techcenter for Lifescience
• The organisation of various foundational conferences such as the: Elixir March 2013 conference, DTL Next Generation Life Sciences workshop and the Fairport 2014 Lorentz Conference
• A 'big data' path finder project with the Netherlands eScience Center
• The co-founding Euretos a market leading AI vendor in disease and drug research
• Support the establishment of the GO FAIR International Coordination and Support Office (GFISCO)
• FAIR Data Stewardship Training for the Irish Health Research Board
• Internet of FAIR Data & Services pilot with Zorg Instituut Nederland (Dutch Health Care Institute) ‘and a course on Ontology modeling for FAIR Data Interoperability’
